'Pacarino Solids and Tweeds I developed this yarn combination because I love alpaca, but I do not always love the way it behaves after knitting. The two yarns in ‘Pacarino compliment each other to give a soft but springy hand that will not 'sag and bag' after you’ve worn your garment a time or two. The yarns also take dye differently, resulting in a rich but subtle shade variation that brings the color to life. I like to think of it as a yin-yang combination. ‘Pacarino is approximately 80% superfine alpaca and 20% superfine merino wool. It gives a dk weight gauge, 5.5 sts. per inch on a US #6, producing a garment that is soft, warm, drapes nicely without losing its shape and resists pilling. It is a great "all-around" yarn for sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens, throws, etc. Put-up is 2.8 oz, approx. 220 yds. I dye in small batches. Sweater and larger quantities available upon request. $18.00 per skein |
